Let’s see how far this movie enthuse Telugu audience… The film Manyam Puli is dubbed version of Malayalam industry hit Pulimurigan grossed around Rs 125 crores. Kumar (Mohanlal) lives along with his family- wife Myna (Kamalini Mukherjee), daughter and a younger brother in an agency area. He shares good rapport with his cousin Balaram (Lal).
Kumar indeed is god figure for locals since he rescues them from wild animals like Tiger.
In fact, there is a backstory as to why he hunts tigers. However, Kumar’s family is needed to leave the village. They take shelter at a businessman Daddy Girija (Jagapathi Babu) in a city where he lands in unfamiliar adversaries. He realizes that, the man-eaters (tigers) living in forest are far better and safer to the cunning natured men living in cities. How Kumar deals with the foes is crux of the story. He weighs heavy, but the efforts he put in for fights are really far-fetched. Though Mohanlal is known for doing concept-based films, he tried commercial film with Manyam Puli and he fit the bill perfectly. There are several heroism elevation sequences and Mohanlal appeared like a real tiger is ready to hunt. He was equally splendid in emotional sequences too. Kamalini Mukherjee played the role of Mohanlal’s wife credibly. In fact, movie appeared sluggish in most of scenes he appeared. Other artists are okay.ĭirector Vysakh stunned one and all by making a pure commercial film with Mohanlal. Though the film doesn’t have convincing story, he could made the film watchable with his making. He dealt few crucial scenes like- child Mohanlal hunting tiger, Mohanlal becomes emotional when his brother becomes sponsor and his bonding with Lal. However, the director should have taken extra care on second half. Gopi Sunder provided wonderful tunes and background score was captivating throughout.
Shaji Kumar’s cinematography is top-notch. Nonetheless, Peter Heins master composed fights are best part of the film. The tiger was a CG model, but looked like a real animal. Though the film is a commercial entertainer, it has some emotional sequences. Bonding between Mohanlal with other characters is rocking. Nonetheless, the film appeared lethargic in second half.
